Maine Racing Dreams
Text and Photos
by Christopher Roy
On Saturday May 30th
the students from
Rockland High
School’s Life Skills
class were invited
to attend a race
with their families.
Wiscasset Raceway
owner Doug White had
opened the gates
free of charge to
the students
allowing them to
enjoy a day of
racing and the
experience of a
local short track
race.
Prior to the day’s
race, the students
and their families
were chauffeured
through the pits on
golf carts. There
they got to see the
cars, the crews, and
meet some of the
drivers. Several of
the drivers such as
Jeff Burgess, TJ
Watson, Jesse Smith,
and Randy Turner
just to name a few,
were able to take
some time to answer
questions the kids
had about racing.
The kids then
received a T-Shirt
of each of their
favorite racecar
driver courtesy of
Knick Knack Racing
Collectibles prior
to the day’s race.
The recipient of the
Maine Racing Dreams
giveaway was chosen
out of four
nominees. It was
announced that Asa
Myers and his family
would attend the
June 28th race in
Loudon, New
Hampshire. Asa and
his family received
4 tickets for the
Sprint Cup race at
New Hampshire Motor
Speedway on the
start finish line.
Maine Racing Dreams
is working with New
Hampshire Motor
Speedway to make
this a memorable
experience for Asa
and his family.
As a consolation
prize, the other 3
nominees and their
families have been
invited to Amsoil’s
Race Night. Lee
Mortenson from
Amsoil’s Factory
Connection - 4
Seasons Synthetic
has donated tickets
for the 3 nominees
and their families
at one of Maine’s
local race tracks.
After the June 28th
NASCAR race, Asa
will be a guest on
Mainely Motor Sports
TV and share his
experiences of his
day at New Hampshire
Motor Speedway.
Maine Racing Dreams
would like to thank
