1. DRIVER SAFETY EQUIPMENT
A. Snell 90 approved helmet in good condition.
B. Face shield, glasses or goggles.
C. Any approved commercially available fire suit. Either two
piece or coverall style. Must be in good condition, no rips
or holes.
D. Fire resistant gloves are required in all classes.
E. Fire resistant footwear highly recommended.
F. Full safety equipment required at all times on the racing
surface.
G. All steering wheels must be fully padded in the center.
2. RACE CAR SAFETY EQUIPMENT
A. Must have ribbon type window net with a quick release
installed in a secure manner.
B. Must have five point racing harness with current dating
in good condition, installed within 3 years max. with a
minimum 3/8 inch grade 8 bolts and locking nuts. These must
be attached at two separate points on the frame, equal
distance from the center of the seat back and not less than
12 inches apart. (see manufacturers instructions for more
details). Sternum belts are highly recommended.
C. Windshields must be safety glass or Lexan.
D. Aluminum racing seat attached in a secure manner must be
mounted to cage. Two head rests mandatory.
E. Fuel cell inside a steel container mounted in a secure
fashion.
- 1. Must have roll over check valve in vent line.
F. No rubber fuel lines from the fuel cell to the engine
compartment.
- 1. All fuel filters must be of metal construction.
G. Full front and rear steel firewalls completely sealed
from the drivers
compartment.
H. Absolutely no sharp edges anywhere.
I. All cars must have a working, fully charged fire
extinguisher mounted in a metal, quick release bracket
within drivers reach when strapped in.
J. ROLL CAGE – All cars must have a full roll cage
constructed of a minimum 1 ½ inch, .095 inch round steel DOM
or seamless tubing. No water pipe allowed. Four uprights
joined together at the top a minimum of four horizontal bars
are required in the drivers door; a plate of 16 gauge steel
approximately 40”X20” must be mounted between the roll cage
and door skin. Three horizontal bars are required on the
passenger side, or two horizontal bars separated by a cross
brace. There must be an “X” brace between rear uprights and
a horizontal bar between the two
front uprights near the lower edge of the windshield.
K. ABSOLUTELY NO BUTT WELDED JOINTS ALLOWED.
L. Any bar within drivers reach must be padded.
M. All cars will have four wheel working brakes.
N. All cars will have a reverse gear.
O. No passengers riding on or in the race car at any time.
P. All cars must have front and rear bumpers with tow hooks
sufficient to lift and move car.
Q. Rub rails are allowed. Must start and end inside car body
and be mounted close to exterior sheet metal.
R. All exhaust systems must have a muffler(s) that all
exhaust passes through, must extend past the driver and be
turned down towards the race track. End of exhaust system
must be under the race car, not out the side or rear.
- 1. Maximum decibel level will be no more than 96 db. As
tested by track
management. Test procedure to be defined.
S. Cooling systems will have water only, cooling additive
okay, absolutely no anti-freeze.
T. Absolutely no fluid leaks of any kind.
U. All batteries must be securely fastened and completely
enclosed. Location optional within the confines of the
drivers compartment.
V. Driveshaft loop required near the front of the
driveshaft. Rear loop recommended. All driveshafts must be
painted white.
1. Minimum driveshaft loop material specification will be ¼
X 2.
W. All race cars must have an overflow bottle at least 1
quart capacity.
X. Any fuel line passing through the drivers compartment
must be inside metal conduit.
Y. Steel wheels required in all divisions.
Z. All ballast weight must be located outside of the
driver’s compartment, and must be attached with a minimum of
2 3/8 bolts with washers and lock nuts.
AA. Cars using a stock steering column must have a
collapsible section, cars using a fabricated steering column
must have a minimum of 2 u-joints positioned so as not to
allow the steering wheel to be pushed rearward in the event
of a collision. Must have a steering column stop.
BB. Definition of OE – for the purposes of rule
interpretation. An OE part is one specified by the
manufacturer as being for a specific make, year, model of
automobile or a commonly available (NAPA, CarQuest, Big A,
etc.) replacement parts supplier. This does not include GM
Bowtie or
Ford SVO.
CC. All cars must have tow hooks.
Note: All illegal parts will
become property of Wiscasset Raceway. Any illegal parts not
turned over will result in permanent suspension until it has
been turned over.

contained in these documents are designed to provide orderly
conduct for our racing events and to establish minimum,
acceptable requirements for all events and those
participating in them. All competitors and those associated
with them are required to comply. There is no warranty
expressed or implied with regard to safety by following
these rules. Auto racing is a dangerous sport. These rules
are intended as a guide only and in no way offer a guarantee
against injury or death to participants or spectators.
Since it would be impossible to list with
any rule book all the modifications and infractions that
could be illegal, it shall be understood that Wiscasset
Raceway management reserves the right to modify the rules at
any time and to make those changes effective at any time.
Infractions will be dealt with in any means as determined by
Wiscasset Raceway management.
ANY USE OF ANY KIND OF TIRE TREATMENT OR
TRACTION CONTROL WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND SUBJECT TO
DISQUALIFICATION.
DISQUALIFICATION (DQ): IF YOU ARE DQ’D
FOR ANY REASON, YOU RECEIVE NO POINTS FOR THE HEAT AND RACE,
AND YOU RECEIVE NO MONEY FOR HEAT OR RACE – PERIOD! |
